چکیده

The possibility that subclinical increased heat of the limb may be an early and reliable sign in the diagnosis of deep venous thrombosis is being investigated using thermography. Of the 35 cases studied 17 have had early deep venous thrombosis confirmed on phlebography. Of these, 16 cases have been previously diagnosed using thermography.

prior to phlebography. Results in disagreement were reviewed retrospectively. Ascending phlebography was performed using a modified method and diagnostic criteria described by Rabinov and Paulin (7). They confirmed that thermography was helpful in recogni...

Thermal Imaging in the Investigation of Deep Venous Thrombosis

Preliminary assessment of clinically suspected deep venous thrombosis (DVT) of the lower limb by thermography avoids the need for over one third of venograms or duplex Doppler ultrasound scans. Clinical diagnosis of DVT is notoriously unreliable hence the need for an accurate means of clinical investigation. Untreated DVT is dangerous as it can progress to pulmonary embolism (PE) which is frequ...

The incidence of the complication showed no significant difference between patients who had had positive and those who had had negative thermo...
